I will tell you more about this collage, and the person who created it, in class on Wednesday. But for now, I would just like you to post your observations about the piece.  What do you notice?  What do you like? Dislike? What images strike you? Confuse you? In short, just first impressions will do. And don't worry about others' comments, just say what you think and/or feel.

I first noticed that this collage is very diverse, lots going on in it.You have the African in his native dress, some kodak pictures, looks like a letter to someone maybe from britain, and a picture of people with a car.Im not sure what the message is that the author is trying to get across.Im thinking hes trying to say that our world is very diverse.Things are happening everyday and you have to adapt to them. Also the colors are very light showing that its a happy tone maybe.

Most of the colors pop out at me. the black and white pictures with the pink all over the collage, the contrast of the beads on the dark skin, the random Kodak film boxes. All the colors set the picture out as happy. In one of the black and white pictures it look like two black men and a white man inbetween meaning to me that the segregation is over and people are becoming less biased and are more knowledgable of the fact that they are all equal. I personally like it.

I believe that the collage sends many messages, simultaneously, quickly, and effectively. I am also somewhat biased in my response because I love art and I find things like this completely interesting and inspirational.

I think that the image may be centered around African culture and the process of equality, especially within the last 50 years. The largest picture that jumps out at me is the side profile of the woman with beading around her head. She seems to be looking at the words and images around her, soaking in a great deal of history and culture. I think the black and white images represent the trials and tribulations of African-American people and their struggle for equality. I also like the fact that the red and pink paint blotches cover most of the image, but leave a few words from an article visible. The words that I can make out are "I believe, and "America."

I first examined the different pictures that have to deal with this piece. The main picture is a picture of a native american with a lot of accessories. The picture below looks like two african americans and a white person which to me look tired. I also notice a picture of a car that looks old. The colors are also very interesting and must have a lot to do with this piece. Also, the little piece of the kodak camera box has an idea that the author wants you to know about. The words which keep repeating "I believe" might have to do with the authors main point. It might be a piece by Martin Luther King Jr. or somebody making it which includes him?

The one thing that truly stood out in this image is the overall usage of photographs of people, mostly African based culture, with the shades of pink going all around them. The pink may be attempting to cover up some clutter of the shown image, to show only the true "highlights" of the collage. The usage of Kodak stubs along the edges looks like a Kodak camera may have taken the images shown, along with something that looks like a postcard that may have shipped along with the photos. Interestingly enough in the letter with words, "I believe," "U.S.A.," and "AMERICA" in caps pops out a few times. I believe it's an advertisement by Kodak, but I could be mistaken.

There's a lot going on. This collage contains many differt things from many different cultures; such as pictures, letters, kodak camera, etc..It shows how different cultures have evolved. I'm not exactly sure what the different colors represent though.

The first thing I noticed about this collage was the color scheme. The color gives off some sort of positive energy. This collage also displays a lot of African American culture. The lady on the left seems to be dressed in traditional African attire. This collage also seems to deal with unity between African Americans and whites. Lastly, it seems that the collage is trying to show that the culture of African Americans is becoming more accepted by society.

I thought this collage was very confusing at first. As i looked at it i saw a lot of pictures, but they were all torn or looked old. I also saw a Kodak box on the right of the collage. I would have to say that the purple looking part could mean something spilled on it. The last thing i saw was a letter, whitch could mean this is from a friend.

I notice bright colors as well as dark colors. I see random pictures of an African woman, old pictures with black and white kids together, and the log for kodak film. I like the many colors the collage has. I dislike what seems to be randomness with the old pictures, African woman, and kodak log. The picture of the African woman strikes me and really stands out because it is the biggest and darkest picture in the collage. I am very confused by the pictures and colors. This collage doesn't have any meaning to me.

This collage reminds me of travel and diversity. There are pictures of different people and a car. There is film and a card from Britain. It might be about someones journey. The note in the background is talking about the United States. In order to truly appreciate this picture there needs to be more background information on the author or topic.

This collage is very busy. There is so much going on you really have to take the time to look at everything. The colors are unique, they were the first things I noticed. The purplish color contrasts the yellow Kodak box. You wouldn't think to put purple and yellow together. The second thing I noticed was the profile of the African lady. It looks like this collage is telling the story of her culture.

I see many different things, but the most notable thing for me was the Kodak film box. It seems to be an expression of memories. Like the saying "take a picture it'll last longer". It’s the part of the image that symbolizes memories

When looking at this I first noticed the pink color covering most of the collage. In addition, I also noticed the African American woman whose head is covered with multiple items. I like how the collage is not perfect, in a sense that everything is not cut to square and aligns up correctly. I think the use of multiply colors, shapes, and items causes the collage to stand out more and ultimately become more appealing. I dislike the overlapping of multiple items in the upper right hand corner. This part of the collage confuses me because I cannot clearly see every item. I am not sure what this collage represents or is trying to say. This may be an African woman's religion or vacation visit to her home country that shows all her encounters and experiences. Overall I think this collage is very interesting and strikes my curiosity.

The first thing I noticed was the color purple followed by the person in the left. The collage gives off a happy emotion but confuses me becase there are a lot of things going on. I think the difference in all the pictures shows diversity.

Very messy collage. I noticed that under the kodak picture label in the purple is the profile of a nose and a mouth, could just be accidental, or maybe something subliminal the creator wanted to put in. The word "AMERICAN" pops out to me. There is also a half of a car picture in it and what looks like a ticket of some sort that says Brittani.. and gets cut off after that part. I wish I could see this is more detail but the picture is small and I can only see so much in it

the first thing i noticed was was the color, there's black and white pictures while there is also a bright purple-pink color all over the place. Then i noticed the profile view of the African person. I don't exactly understand the importance or message of the collage.

My initial impression of this collage was that it was an assortment of what could be memories; there were ripped Kodak box pieces on the sides. That was my favorite part of the collage. A woman in her traditional head dress might mean that this collage is centered on the treatment of African Americans in the past century. The words I believe in what could be her letter or journal entry strikes me the most. They might represent the person’s beliefs in obtaining equal rights for African Americans.

I’m not that good in deciphering pictures or colors so I don’t really know about those two items on the collage. I’m guessing the pink is covering up some stuff and the red at the sides could stand for pain.

This collage has alot going on. I'm not exactly sure what to think about it. I see barcodes, an African, some pictues, a kodak box, a car, some writing in the back round, maybe from a newspaper. It might be showing how diverse this world is.
